Lessons from Broadway: Creating a Masterpiece in Life

Lessons from Broadway: Creating a Masterpiece in Life

This weekend in New York, I attended my first Broadway show, The Great Gatsby. Having read the book, seen the movie, and heard glowing reviews of the production, I decided to experience it for myself.

Before this, I knew little about Broadway other than it involved musicals lasting about 2.5 hours. What I discovered was a captivating world that left me in awe. The ambiance, the theater, the vibe—it was all incredible.

From the moment the show started, I felt transported to another world. While the actors’ performances were outstanding, two elements of the production stood out to me and offered profound lessons for success and growth.

1. The Power of Changing Your Scene

Every time the lights went out, I expected a quick backdrop change. What I saw instead were elaborate, three-dimensional sets that completely transformed the stage in mere seconds. It felt like stepping into a new theater each time.

This reminded me of a crucial truth: sometimes, success isn’t about effort but about the environment you’re in. As we head into 2025, it might be time to reassess your scene. Are you in the right career, surrounded by the right people, or living in the right place? Changing the scene can change the tone of your life. Make sure you’re setting yourself up in the right one.

2. Trust the Unseen Orchestra

As I enjoyed the show, I assumed the incredible music came from a pre-recorded soundtrack. Imagine my surprise when, at the end, the actors thanked the live orchestra playing in the pit below.

It was a powerful metaphor for life: there are always unseen forces working to enhance your journey. When you align yourself with the right scene and give your all, the “orchestra” of your life—those unseen contributors—will help create something extraordinary.

Your Role in the Play of Life

Whether it’s changing your environment or trusting the hidden forces supporting you, the keys to growth lie in embracing transformation and believing in the unseen. Treat 2025 as your stage. Change the scene if necessary, trust the process, and let the masterpiece unfold.

Go be a star.
