Transforming Your Day with Positive Energy: Lessons from Bear

I've been busy with speaking engagements, working on my new book, and managing various other tasks. Amidst this hustle, I realized that sometimes we are unknowingly stressed. Not all stress is bad; it often signifies that we're actively engaged and busy. But what struck me recently is how my stress was affecting my seven-month-old Australian shepherd puppy, Bear.
The Mirror of Our Emotions
Bear is incredibly perceptive for a young puppy. Over the past few days, despite my familiarity with operating under stress, I noticed changes in his behavior. It made me ponder: if my puppy can pick up on my energy, how much more do the people around us, especially those who know us well, feed off our vibes?
Many people strive to increase their influence, aspire to become speakers, or aim to elevate their presence in various fields. The key to all this isn't just about what we do but about the energy we emit. People naturally gravitate towards those who uplift and energize them, not those who drain their spirits.
Fueling Others with Positive Energy
In speaking engagements, I've learned that it's not just about the words you say but about the emotion you leave your audience with. Are you fueling them? Are you energizing them? It's crucial to be conscious of the energy we put out. People literally feed off the vibes we emit. So, what are they snacking on with you?
If you were to objectively evaluate your daily interactions, are you the person whose presence lights up the room, or are you the one who dampens the mood? We all know those people who give us their full attention, making us feel valued and important. Then there are those who are only half-present, their minds elsewhere, not giving us the respect of their full engagement.
Self-Reflection and Accountability
Understanding the energy you emit requires self-reflection. Sometimes, like with my realization through Bear's behavior, we need an external indicator to recognize our internal state. Take accountability for your energy. How do people perceive you? Are you unknowingly stressing those around you?
The Energy We Absorb
It's not just about what we give out but also about the energy we absorb. The people around us, their actions, and their vibes directly impact us. Think of it as jumping into a swimming pool; if the water is dirty, you'll come out dirty. If it's clean, you'll stay clean. We must be mindful of the energy in our environment.
Surround yourself with energy that fuels your purpose. This doesn't mean labeling energy as good or bad but rather evaluating if it's productive and aligned with your current goals. Some people might have great energy for relaxation and leisure but may not be conducive to your work and growth during a busy season.
Making a Conscious Change
If you find yourself surrounded by negative energy or realize you're emitting less-than-ideal vibes, remember, you have the power to change it. Start by consciously deciding to emit positive energy. When I decided to project joy and enthusiasm for Bear, his mood improved, and in turn, mine did too. The stress didn't vanish, but the way I handled it transformed, making my environment more positive for both of us.
Choose Your Energy
We all have the power to change our energy and, consequently, our environment. By making a conscious effort to emit positivity and surround ourselves with uplifting vibes, we create a better space for ourselves and those around us. So today, decide to be the light, be the positive energy that fuels and inspires others. Your energy has a profound impact—make it count.
