How to Get Found: Standing Out in a Crowded World

How to Get Found: Standing Out in a Crowded World

Ever wonder how some people just seem to get found? How does an unknown actor suddenly land a blockbuster role? How do certain entrepreneurs turn a simple idea into a booming business? And, on a more personal level, how do we become the diamond in the rough—the one people recognize and value?

I believe, in some way, we all feel overlooked or underrated. We feel like we provide more value than we’re given credit for. Maybe your paycheck doesn’t match your effort. Maybe people around you are getting opportunities you know you’re more qualified for. So, how do you change that? How do you stand out?

Step 1: Double Down on What You Want to Be Found For

Here’s the hard truth: If you want to get found, you have to go all in.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is spreading themselves too thin. They want to do everything, so they dilute their expertise and impact. When people ask what they do, they rattle off five different things. The problem? If you look watered down in what you offer, you’ll be perceived as watered down in the solutions you bring.

Think about it. If you had a heart problem, would you go to a general doctor who “does a little of everything,” or would you go to the best heart surgeon in the field?

Decide what you want to be known for and commit. The word “decide” literally means “to cut off all other options.” You have to be so locked in that failure isn’t an option. The world rewards specialists, not generalists.

Step 2: Give 100% Every Day—You Never Know Who’s Watching

This is one of the biggest reasons I always give my best effort—because you never know who’s watching.

Imagine working hard for years, and on the one day you decide to half-step, the person who could change your life sees you at 50%. You never get another chance to make that first impression. That’s why consistency is key.

You are always one set of eyes or ears away from your life-changing moment. One introduction, one meeting, one chance encounter—that’s all it takes to shift everything. But that opportunity will only benefit you if you’re showing up and giving it your best.

Mark Cuban once said, “In basketball, you need to make six out of ten shots to be an All-Star. In baseball, you only need to hit three out of ten to make the Hall of Fame. But in business and life, you only have to be right once.”

That’s all it takes—one big win. But if you quit before that moment arrives, you’ll never get there.

Step 3: Find Your Niche—There’s a Market for Everything

We often tell ourselves there’s no market for what we love. That’s just not true.

Whatever you’re into—whether it’s fitness, tech, writing, or some obscure hobby—there is a niche for it. Just go to Reddit, type in any topic, and you’ll find an entire community passionate about that exact thing.

The question isn’t whether there’s a market. The question is whether you’re willing to become an authority in that market. The people who get found are the ones who show up, add value, and keep getting better at their craft.

Step 4: Over-Deliver Every Single Time

The final step is simple—over-deliver.

Most people do just enough to get by. But the people who truly get found are the ones who give more than expected.

In my career, I never just show up, give a talk, and leave. I make myself available. I stay for extra time. I answer every question. That’s why clients bring me back—because I don’t just deliver value, I over-deliver.

Ask yourself:

  • How can I give more than expected?
  • How can I surprise people with my dedication?
  • How can I make sure people remember me?

Because when you consistently go above and beyond, you create a reputation that speaks louder than any marketing strategy ever could.

The Right People Will Find You

If you truly commit, if you give your all every day, and if you focus on over-delivering, you will get found. It won’t happen overnight, but the right eyes will eventually land on you.

It only takes one set of eyes to change your entire trajectory. But you have to be ready when that moment comes.

So today, decide to go all in. Show up as your best self. Put in the work. Because the moment you’ve been waiting for might be right around the corner.

Make sure when the opportunity comes, it finds you at 100%.
