Embrace Your SuperVillain
Share
After one of my recent keynotes, we rolled into the Q&A portion—my favorite part. That’s when the real conversations start. The unscripted, raw questions that reveal what people are actually thinking beneath the surface.
Someone asked, “If you weren’t a speaker or author, what would you be doing?”
Without missing a beat, I said, “I’d be a supervillain.”
The crowd laughed, but I wasn’t really joking.
Later that night, out of curiosity, I asked AI what I’d look like as a supervillain. Its answer?
“You’d carry a sonic mic—because your words are your superpower.”
I had to sit with that for a moment. Because it nailed it.
Every lesson I teach, every keynote I give, every sentence I write—it all centers around helping people unlock their potential through mindset and language. Words have built empires. Words have started wars. Words change lives. So yeah, a sonic mic? That fits.
But what stuck with me even more was the idea of power—how supervillains wield it, and how most people hide from it.
Heroes Ask Permission. Supervillains Take the Shot.
We’ve been taught to play nice. To wait our turn. To earn approval before we show the world who we are. But I’ve noticed something...
Supervillains never wait.
They don't raise their hand.
They walk in the room like they own it.
Not because they’re evil—but because they’re clear.
Clear on their identity. Clear on their mission. Clear on their power.
If you want to stop spinning your wheels in life, stop asking for permission to pursue your passion. Start acting like someone who already knows what they bring to the table—and isn’t afraid to build their own table if one doesn’t exist.
Identity is the Root of Confidence
Here’s what I admire most about supervillains: they never doubt who they are. They might be polarizing. They might be misunderstood. But they’re never confused about their identity.
That’s what most people are missing.
Confidence doesn’t come from applause. It comes from alignment.
When your internal belief matches your external actions, that’s when confidence becomes unshakable.
In No One Prays for the Lion, I talk about sustainable confidence—the kind that doesn’t vanish when your environment changes.
Stop changing who you are depending on who’s in the room. That’s exhausting.
Start showing up as the same you everywhere. That’s freedom.
Vision Without Apology
Supervillains never “play it by ear.” They have a master plan—an endgame.
Now I’m not saying your vision should involve a doomsday device. But I am saying this: if your vision doesn’t scare you a little, it’s probably not big enough.
You weren’t born to be vague.
You were born to create with precision.
If someone asks what you’re working on and your answer is “Eh, we’ll see how it goes,” that’s not a vision—that’s a delay tactic.
Instead, say:
✅ “This is what I’m building.”
✅ “Here’s the impact I want to make.”
✅ “I’m not waiting. I’m moving.”
Bold Belief Makes People Uncomfortable—Let Them Be
Here’s the truth:
When you finally believe in yourself… people will get uncomfortable.
When you stop shrinking… people will talk.
They’ll say you’re cocky. They’ll say you’ve changed. They’ll say you’re full of yourself.
What they really mean is, “I’m not ready to rise with you.”
And that’s fine. You don’t owe the world an explanation for evolving.
You owe yourself the opportunity to live at full volume.
I’ve worked with companies who hired me, only to say, “We don’t really want change—we just want to look like we’re doing something.”
Translation? Most people are addicted to mediocrity because it’s familiar.
But you’re not most people.
Declare It. Own It. Become It.
You don’t have to wear a cape or carry a sonic mic to be powerful.
You just have to own your truth.
Say it out loud:
-
“I’m proud of who I am becoming.”
-
“I don’t have it all figured out, but I’m not hiding anymore.”
-
“I’m done apologizing for wanting more out of life.”
2025 isn’t the year to blend in. It’s the year to become undeniable.
To find your passion.
To walk with vision.
To build confidence that doesn’t crack.
And to unleash the power you’ve been sitting on for far too long.
You don’t need a supervillain name.
You just need to stop playing small and start playing real.
Let’s go.
