Baylor Barbee is an ultra-endurance athlete and keynote speaker on the topics of self-leadership, opportunity, and mental health. He is the author of several books including Opportunity Engineer and Wintality, and the host of the podcast Shark Theory.

Baylor is a leadership development speaker with over a decade of experience in the field of mental health and mindsets.  He regularly speaks to Fortune 500 companies, large scale non-profits, universities, as well as conferences.  He was selected by the DataBird Research Journal as one of the Top 100 Keynote speakers and selected by the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau as one of the Top 12 Most Influential African-Americans in Dallas.

Baylor is an Amazon Best-Selling Author with seven books to his name. His earlier works, such as “See My Heart Not My Past,” focused primarily on mental health and depression.  His most recent works, “Opportunity Engineer,” “Wintality,” and “The Idea of Excellence,” are read and studied by many organizations seeking to sharpen their team’s mindsets.

Baylor utilizes a parable style of writing to create easy-to-read chapters packed with instantly applicable strategies, regardless of the reader’s prior experience.

Baylor is a former Division 1 Wide Receiver and letterman, having played football for Baylor University on an athletic scholarship.

After his football career, Baylor switched his focus to ultra-endurance events to test the limits of the body and mind and work to break through limiting beliefs and adversity. Endurance races serve as a testing platform for the mindset strategies he deploys to audiences.

Baylor competes in marathons, 50-mile ultra-trail marathons, triathlons, and Ironman 70.3 events. He’s an advocate of cause-based racing and uses his social platform and races to spread awareness for great causes and organizations.

Baylor hosts a 10-minute a day podcast, Shark Theory, geared toward helping listeners find opportunity in their lives.  He provides tactical strategies for peak-performers through parables from everyday lessons.  Shark Theory has listeners in 85+ countries and is available on all major platforms.

Baylor holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Baylor University in the field of Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education Sport’s Management from Baylor University as well. Baylor is a 4-year member of the Big XII Commissioner’s Honor Roll, given to collegiate athletes who maintain a high GPA.

Baylor serves as President of the Dreams Really Exist Foundation, a 501(c) non-profit geared at providing social-emotional programming for children in underserved communities. Baylor also serves on several boards of Directors in organizations that provide educational support for students in low socioeconomic areas.
